Crowd Fusion Beta
Progress report
Yesterday, I emailed a progress report to the members of our beta program. Many people wrote back to say that they're comfortable running a platform that has frequent updates, so we'll see what we can do to speed up giving them access. Here's a copy of that email for those of you who aren't in the program.
We gave access to around 20 people out of the nearly 700 beta applicants. Some of them haven't downloaded the platform. (Crazy, right? Yeah, I thought the same thing.) Other developers are asking question after question in our IRC channel and have already migrated public-facing sites into Crowd Fusion.
Our team has fixed a bunch of installation issues and is hard at work on the most important part of Crowd Fusion: our documentation. A few of those docs are available on this site and the rest will be moved over for public access after they've been triple checked.
We will activate new developers as soon as possible, but in the meantime we're providing a lot of hand-holding and we're feverishly making edits and fixes to make life that much easier for the next round. We're like CMS concierges.
Today we rolled out a significant enough upgrade that developers using the platform were faced with two choices: install fresh and reimport your data; or do an 8-step upgrade procedure. If that kind of stuff doesn't bother you, email us and let us know!
I'm sure it looks like it's going pretty slowly from the outside, but inside it's non-stop action. You'll see soon enough.
