Velocity Interactive Group issued a press release about our funding last July (PDF). In it, Velocity partner Jon Miller said:

Crowd Fusion is the perfect complement to Velocity's existing portfolio. We believe in Brian's innovative vision for a new publishing company and look forward to seeing that vision through.

The release also noted that Jon Miller and Ian Sigalow of Greycroft Partners had joined our board of directors and that Crowd Fusion had added COO Judith Meskill and CMO Steve Friedman to its management team.

I love that Crowd Fusion can now be listed in the pantheon of companies Marc Andreessen has founded or invested in: Netscape, OpsWare (formerly LoudCloud), Digg, Del.icio.us, Twitter, Netvibes, Outside.in, Revision 3, Fon, LinkedIn, Meebo, Funny or Die, Scribd and Wikia.

Oh yeah, Marc is also on the board of Facebook. Amazing.

Silicon Alley Insider, CMS Wire and The Blog Herald also covered our investment news. I talked about the investment round on my own blog and provided some extra information that wasn't in the press release, like the fact that our valuation was "somewhere south of Facebook's."
